In constitution of Islamic Republic of Iran, women have the same right as men to vote and be voted in order to participate and take political and social responsibilities, but as it is implied from article 115 of the constitution, the gender is matter in taking the presidentship as the highest formal post in Iran after the leadership, so women can not take this responsibility. This interpretation is based on religious beliefs and rules of religious jurisprudence.
