One of the main groups of the society whose participation in the process of governing the society and political, social and cultural development seems essential, are students. Political participation of students who are counted as the biggest population group in developing countries and responsible for running the society, has a special importance in the political stability and dynamics of the society. The purpose of writing this paper is to study the relationship between the social capital and political participation of students in the University of Isfahan. Survey is the method of research in collecting and analyzing the data. This study is conducted on 188 male and female students of the University of Isfahan. Questionnaires are used to collect data, the validity of which is evaluated by formal methods and its reliability by Cronbach’s Alpha Statistics and data is analyzed through SPSS software. Having divided the social capital into three variables (social trust, social norms and social networks), along with considering two aspects of political participation that is psychological-attitudinal factors and the method of participation (formal or informal), it is observed that there is a meaningful correlation between aspects of social capital and rate of political participation of respondents. مشارکت سیاسی به عنوان یکی از انواع مشارکت، از شاخص‏های توسعه اجتماعی و سیاسی در کشورها به‏شمار می‏رود. یکی از گروه¬های عمده جامعه که شرکت آنان در روند اداره جامعه و توسعه سیاسی، اجتماعی و فرهنگی ضروری به نظر می¬رسد، دانشجویان می¬باشند. مشارکت سیاسی دانشجویان که بزرگترین گروه جمعیتی در کشورهای در حال توسعه و مسئولان اداره جامعه در آینده محسوب می¬شوند، اهمیت خاصی برای ثبات سیاسی و پویایی جامعه دارد. هدف از نگارش این مقاله بررسی رابطه میان سرمایه اجتماعی و مشارکت سیاسی دانشجویان در دانشگاه اصفهان می¬باشد. روش تحقیق پژوهش در جمع آوری و تجزیه و تحلیل داده¬ها، روش پیمایشی می¬باشد. این مطالعه بر روی 188 نفر از دختران و پسران دانشجوی دانشگاه اصفهان صورت گرفته است؛ برای جمع¬آوری اطلاعات، از پرسشنامه استفاده شده است که اعتبار آن، به روش صوری، و پایایی آن، به کمک آماره¬ آلفای کرونباخ سنجیده شده است و داده ها از طریق نرم افزار SPSS تحت محیط ویندوز تجزیه و تحلیل شدند. با تقسیم سرمایه اجتماعی به سه متغیر (اعتماد اجتماعی، هنجارهای اجتماعی و شبکه¬های اجتماعی)، به همراه در نظر گرفتن دو وجه از مشارکت سیاسی یعنی عوامل روان شناختی– نگرشی و شیوه مشارکت (رسمی یا غیر رسمی)، مشاهده می¬شود که همبستگی¬های معناداری میان ابعاد سرمایه اجتماعی و میزان مشارکت سیاسی پاسخگویان وجود دارد.
