He has dwelled on the concepts of Identity and Iranian Identity in regard to the challenges in the world today. This article is intended to find out the approach of Darisuh Sahygan towards identity crisis and challenges in the modern contemporary world. The main underlying idea is that he, emphasizing upon the maintenance of native identity, had never totally rejected the western culture, but he has proposed the necessity of having knowledge and understanding about the western culture. Therefore, the most important characteristics of Shaygan’s writings and opinions are his simultaneous criticism of “eastern traditional ideology” and “western modernization ideology. This article focuses on Shaygan’s mental endeavors with regard to the authentic and original identity in traditional cultures and civilizations in confronting the modern world and modernization. داریوش شایگان، در کنار اندیشمندانی چون سید احمد فردید، جلال آل احمد و علی شریعتی، از برجسته­ترین اندیشمندان پنج دهۀ اخیر ایران محسوب می­شود. از مباحث کانونی و محوری در آثار این اندیشمندان، پرداختن به مسئلۀ هویت و هویت ایرانی، در مواجهه با چالش­های پیش روی در جهان مدرن است. این مقاله در پی پاسخگویی به این سوال است که «داریوش شایگان چه رویکردی را در خصوص بحران هویت جهان معاصر پی می­گیرد؟» ایدۀ مقاله این است که وی در کنار تاکید بر حفظ هویت اصیل و ناب، به رَد و طرد یکجانبۀ غرب دست نمی­زند و لزوم شناخت و آگاهی نسبت به ریشه­ها و محرّک­های غرب مدرن را مطرح می­کند و یکی از منسجم­ترین و فلسفی­ترین پاسخ­ها را در خصوص بحران هویت ارائه می­دهد. بدین ترتیب نقد همزمان سنت «جهان­بینی شرقی» و تجدّد «جهان­بینی غربی» و تلاش برای درانداختن طرحی نو، مهم­ترین ویژگی آثار و آرای شایگان می­باشد که در این مقاله بدان پرداخته شده است. http://www.ipsajournal.ir/article_355_82cec96096d4281b7c95cd7e74623496.pdf
