Reviwing of Islamic Republic of Iran’s Ethnic policies regarding Kurdish groups at the period of the Reformist State (1998-2006)

Abstract

         The Islamic Revolution in Iran changed the policies to the ethnic groups, including Kurdish ethnic groups. These changes with regard to law rules made major legal, structural and functional transformations. During the imposed war ages and the following period of country reconstruction, the security consolidations along with the mechanical and economical approaches were put on the agenda of the government officials. With the rise of the reformist state, communication between state and ethnic groups and also collaboration with Kurdish ethnic groups increased. Thereafter, Islamic Republic's ethnic policy regarding Kurdish groups was regulated on the base of democratic relations. This paper is made an effort to cast a glance over the ethnic policies of Islamic Republic of Iran in the 8 year old period of the reformist state (1376-1384). In this case, ethnic policies regarding Kurdish groups and the impact of these policies on relation between state and Kurdish elite groups on the one hand and the impact of these policies on political participation as a principle of democratic process on the other hand are examined. In terms of methodology, the descriptive and analytical method with utilizing secondary analytical method based on first-hand sources and information in addition to comparative analysis of this information is set up the main criteria of this study.
