Abstract
Populism is a feature of politics in the modern era, an era in which the role of people's power in politics and how to use it became important and relevant. Populism, in the sense of direct and unregulated appeal to people's power, is one of the most important harms and challenges that the political system based on representation has been dealing with so far. Undoubtedly, populism, like any political and social phenomenon, is affected by factors and contexts that influence its tendency. The instrumentality and void of fundamental values of populism has made this phenomenon use the political and social weaknesses and lacks of a society as well as other ideological and ideological possibilities. In this article, an attempt has been made to investigate the ideological factors of the trend towards populism in the twenties, through the qualitative analysis method and by using Paul Taggart's theories about populism. The obtained results indicate that ideological factors (mass ideology and nationalism) are influential in the trend towards populism.
